Tourism Education of the Future (TEF), inaugural meeting in the Netherlands
From 16 to 19 January 2023 in Zwolle, Netherlands, the inaugural meeting of the partners was held in the framework of the implementation of the Erasmus+ KA220-VET - Partnerships for Vocational Education and Training KA2 entitled: Tourism Education of the Future (Tourism Education of the Future- TEF) project.
The program includes the following schools from the following countries:
  • ARPO FORMAZZIONE (Italy)
  • Landstede (Netherlands)
  • European Forum for Vocational Education and Training -EfVET- (Belgium)
  • IEK ORIZON (Greece)
  • Insignare (Portugal)
  • CDEA (Spain)
  • IUS (Bosnia and Herzegovina)
Purpose of the project: Through the work of the Group for the Future of Tourism of EfVET, the partners identified in students and trainers of tourism specialties deficiencies in digital skills, horizontal and professional skills. This approved program aims to give future tourism professionals, as well as those who shape them, those skills they lack in order to be able to adapt to the new requirements of tourism. In this program we share our experiences, knowledge and create innovative learning experiences for our students along with leading Vocational Training Institutions from Italy, the Netherlands, Portugal, Spain, Bosnia Herzegovina as well as EfVET, one of the largest and most important European networks of Vocational Education and Training benefits.
The project will move along three axes:
  • Training tourism instructors
  • Transnational initiatives between students (Online skills competitions and physical presence)
  • Adaptation of vocational education and training to new data and new skills in tourism. Identification of gaps skills gaps in tourism at regional local level.
The Activities to be implemented, in summary, are:
  • 1 online list of tourist seminars/programs
  • 6 ME classes for tourism instructors
  • 2 thematic workshops for tourism instructors
  • 1 community of tourism instructors
  • 2 skill competitions for students
  • 2 online contests for students
  • 2 skill needs surveys (skills needs analysis)
  • 9 continuing education programs based on the results of the above surveys
  • 6 local initiatives for "Skills Alliances".
The I.E.K. Horizon, with representatives of Tina Giannakea and Nikos Stakias, took part in this first-inaugural meeting of the Tourism Education of the Future program, Partnerships for Vocational Education and Training, held at the Landstede Groep in Zwolle, Netherlands. The aim of the inaugural meeting was to get to know the partners with the international partners, to present the schools and to present the program and its objectives in a more detailed way. All activities were organized and will be implemented until the next transnational meeting of the partners, organized by IEK ORIZONOS and will take place in Kalamata on 22-25 May 2023. Next appointment before the 2nd intergovernmental meeting was given at the TTT Thematic Event conference in Alba, Italy 06/03-09/03/2023, where the results of this Erasmus+ program will be presented.
